Known as “the island of spice”, Grenada is an island as rich in scenery and culture as it is in natural herbs and spices. With a large proportion of the island preserved as natural wildlife sanctuaries and parks, and tropical rainforests and waterfalls contributing to the remaining part of the landscape, Grenada is a land of genuine natural beauty. The pretty capital town of St Georges is situated around the pretty harbour with many of the surrounding buildings still boasting their original French and English colonial architectural design. Despite being an island that still retains much of its original unspoilt charm, Grenada is an island that continues to develop and grow as an emerging and popular holiday destination without being overly commercial or spoilt by mass tourism. Within easy distance are the sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and ferry services operating between the three islands makes island hopping both interesting and inexpensive.
