Barbados is the most revisited of the Caribbean islands by UK visitors due to its golden beaches, wonderful weather and its strong historic British links. The island prides itself on its attention to detail and quality, so deciding to get married on this island ensures the organisation and precision of a wedding at home, but with Caribbean flair and a setting that this beautiful and sophisticated destination provides.

There are numerous options for marrying on this island ranging from small intimate hotels or private villas to great historical plantation houses. With the services of our on island wedding co-ordinators we are able to organise a completely personalised wedding in the setting of your choice, or a resort wedding in the style of hotel that suits your tastes and budget.

Barbados Weddings - Legal Requirements Barbados
Minimum Residency Period (in working days ) 0
Passports
Original Copy Birth Certificates
Legal Proof if name changed by Deed Poll
Decree Absolute if Divorced previously
Affidavit to declare Marital Status - must be stamped by Notary if not married previously
Death Certificate of spouse & previous Marriage Certificate if widow or widower

With its revised legislation, couples can now marry in Barbados as soon as they have obtained a licence, which can be issued immediately on application, this can mean you need just 1 working day on island before you can tie the knot. However, the application is handled by our local island wedding co-ordinator who will also supply the Ministry with the required letter stating that a marriage officer has agreed to perform your wedding service, so we recommend you plan to leave at least 2 working days before your wedding day following your arrival on the island. This will also ensure that you have time to liaise with the co-ordinator regarding any last minute details you wish to discuss.

Our recommendation for a unique and elegant setting for your wedding is Subury Plantation Great House. This historical property provides a great location for your ceremony and reception. Couples can marry and take pictures within the beautiful gardens, and then enjoy the reception of their choice - either a cocktail party in the gardens, a buffet dinner reception in the Pavilion, or an intimate candlelit silver service dinner within the Planatation House. All dining options include full catered menus, an open bar and full servicing. Costs start from £17 per head for Buffet Brunch to £55 per head for 5 course sliver service dinner. Contact us for full details of menu options and costs for catering your wedding as well as flowers, wedding cake, photography and entertainment, which can also be arranged by the resident wedding co-ordinator.

The Villa Wedding - for a completely private wedding you can stay in your own villa where the staff will assist in catering for your wedding party. For larger wedding groups you can opt for one of our large villas which can also accommodate some of your guests, or we can recommend one of our collection of neighbouring villas where guests can be accommodated together. Most villas will also permit additional guests to be hosted at the villa on your wedding day, but charge a venue fee for hosting the wedding onsite. These fees are charged in US dollars and are paid locally. If you are looking for an impressive villa location with an idyllic setting for your wedding, also suited to accommodating the main members of your wedding party, Mullins Mill or Nelsons Gay are the ideal villas. Both have 6 bedrooms, beautiful gardens, spacious entertainment areas and all the amenities for hosting an outdoor moonlit reception and providing a great holiday. Or for smaller wedding parties Aquamarine is a 3 bedroom beach house positioned directly on Mullins beach, providing an intimate sunset wedding setting. Additional guests can be accommodated at a number of neighbouring villas along the beach. Contact us for a quotation for arranging your ideal wedding at the villa of your choice.
